Rest Well PLC

Filed under: daily — saul @ 7:01 AM

cleo Rest Well PLCYesterday was a rough day, ‘T’ and I had to say goodbye to our dear friend ‘Cleo’ who at 18 years old, was miserable, and constantly uncomfortable - I’m happy that she’s now free of pain, but sad because Cleo still had so much love to give. Rest Well ‘Patent-leather cat’ play with your sister, enjoy your freedom. We love you.

I can Haz?

Filed under: daily — saul @ 3:30 PM

maxx I can Haz?Must be the weather, but we were visited by a flock of small (and very noisy) birds today (I think they may be starlings) - I didn’t mind the noise, and the cats totally dug it. I’ve never seen them so transfixed.

Hope For The Animals

img 0857jpg Hope For The Animals‘T’ spends her weekends working at a no-kill animal shelter in Fairless Hills, PA (It’s inside the PETSMART near the Oxford Valley Mall).

Sadly they have a bunch of loving animals that have been ignored, abused, or discarded - I’m mortified when I hear the stories of these loving and affectionate animals, it just reinforces, my general opinion that most people suck. Stop in, play with a few of the cats - they appreciate the attention, and if you are so inclined, put in a application for adoption (or foster). HFTA takes donations via a PayPal link on their homepage.

Phillypaws

Filed under: photos — saul @ 11:25 AM

img 0138 Phillypaws‘T’ and I went gallery hopping last saturday, and by chance stopped in at Phillypaws, a impressive animal shelter on 2nd street. ‘T’ spends almost every weekend volunteering at a similar (albeit smaller) shelter so it was pretty interesting seeing the differences. The animals where very sweet, and if I could I would adopt every single one of them. The fellow pictured above, was a real charmer.

Feline Math

1 highly athletic kitten + 1 knit cat toy + 2 walls to bounce off = endless entertainment.

Willie Mays NEVER had moves like Maxx, Bicycle kick off the cat tree, sticks the landing every time.

My iPhone Camera

maxalaiphone My iPhone Camera
I hadn’t read too much about the iPhone camera, which is a shame, because given that it’s UI is just about the slickest thing on the phone, it bares mentioning - and given that the light level isn’t too high or too low, the photo’s aren’t bad, true they are a bit artifacty if you compare them to my DSLR - but again my DSLR also weighs 540g (lensless). It would be nice to set the compression and image-size on my iPhone though.

Oh That’s MAXX above, he’s grown up some since this post.

July 16th, 2007 : A New Cat in Town

Hi I’m Maxx

max Hi Im MaxxOne of the certainties of having a spouse who volunteers for an animal shelter is, occasionally the brightest, cutest most endearing of the inmates find their way home. This is Maxx a 16 week old gray and white kitten, and the newest members of the Rosenbaum menagerie. He’s been here less than 24 hours, as you can imagine it’s been quite interesting, right now he’s registering somewhere between a curiosity and an annoyance to the other cats, I’m sure that will change.

We’re old pro’s at the whole multiple cat household thing - some folks recommend you introduce them one by one, others say you should let them smell each other under a closed door - we’ve never given either method much credence, we just tossed lil’ Maxx to the masses (Maxx makes cat number five) and then kept a close eye, he’s a kitten - he’ll be fine. Oh, in case you where wondering the extra X is for x-treme cuteness.
